Anloga, (V/R), May 24, GNA-The leadership of the Keta and Anloga Youth Parliament has paid courtesy calls on Sandra Seyram Kpedor, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Anloga, and Wisdom Seade, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Keta, to congratulate them on their appointments.

They also discussed critical developmental issues affecting the youth and the broader community.

The delegation, led by Madam Rejoice Dzidzor Elo, First Deputy Speaker and the Second Deputy Speaker Miss Josephine Moladza, clerk of the House also included Majority Leader Mr Prosper Agbagli, Minority Leader Mr. Fred Nuviadenu, and Deputy Minority Leader Mr. Atsu Kporxa.

The team extended their congratulations to the two executives on their successful nominations and endorsements and pledged their unwavering support in advancing the socio-economic development of the area.

During their engagement with Ms Kpedor, issues of drug abuse among the youth in Anloga were brought to the fore and the DCE expressed grave concern about the rising trend and its damaging effect on the future of young people in the district.

“Since leadership is bestowed on us as youth today, we must take responsibility to lead our younger ones to become responsible citizens to serve after us. What is happening now does not, in any way, reflect such a future. With you, we can change how indiscriminate substance abuse is on the rise in Anlo these days,” she stated.

She urged the Youth Parliament to forge partnerships with institutions such as the Ghana Police Service and other law enforcement bodies to help curb the menace of substance abuse in the area.

The team visited the MCE of Keta, Mr Wisdom Seade, where they reiterated their congratulatory message and support.

Mr Seade welcomed the delegation warmly and used the opportunity to highlight some pressing concerns about education in the municipality.

“Education is really on the decline in Keta. We have to collaborate to restore the standard,” he said, citing teacher shortages and lack of educational materials in basic schools as contributing factors.

Mr Seade highlighted how the Youth Parliament initiative can be leveraged to make lots of impacts in education, crime fighting, skill development and youth empowerment in general.

Mr Prosper Agbagli, Majority Leader of the Youth Parliament, assured the MCE of their readiness to engage relevant stakeholders and develop innovative strategies to revamp education in the area.

Interacting with the Ghana News Agency after the last visit, Madam Rejoice Dzidzor Elo, first deputy speaker, thanked both Chief Executives for their hospitality and reaffirmed the Youth Parliament’s commitment to working together with local authorities to promote youth development and community progress.
