Kpone, May 20, GNA – The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Office, has embarked on a child vaccination awareness campaign, reaching out to schools, identifiable groups, and Faith-Based Organisations (FBOs) across the municipality.
The campaign, which covered eleven communities including Kpone, Zenu, Gbetsile, Oyibi, and Appolonia, was part of efforts to educate the public on the importance of routine child immunisation in preventing deadly childhood diseases.
Mr Seth Sotie, the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal NCCE Director, who led the campaign, emphasised the urgent need to intensify public sensitisation on child vaccination.
According to him, although Ghana’s immunisation programme has made significant strides, gaps remain in public understanding and compliance, especially in peri-urban and rural areas.
“We cannot afford to relax. There is a need to intensify this campaign to create the needed awareness, especially among parents, guardians, and caregivers who are key decision-makers when it comes to child health,” he said.
Mr Sotie reiterated the NCCE’s commitment to ensuring every child in the municipality has access to lifesaving vaccines, adding that continuous stakeholder collaboration remains crucial to achieving this goal.
The awareness drive, which included educational talks, the distribution of flyers, and community engagements, was organised in collaboration with the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Health Directorate.
It focused on dispelling myths about vaccines, promoting adherence to the immunisation schedule, and encouraging communal responsibility in protecting children.
At various basic schools, NCCE officers engaged pupils on the importance of immunisation, while interactive sessions with FBOs sought to integrate vaccination education into religious platforms.
The campaign received positive responses from the targeted communities, with many residents pledging their support to spread the message and ensure no child was left behind.
