Sekondi, May 27, GNA – Ms. Maribel Okine, the Western Regional Director of Gender, says winning the fight against Streetism required all hands-on deck approach by relevant stakeholders.
It also includes strengthening family support systems, access to education, community-based initiatives, and collaboration between government agencies, NGOs, and community leaders.
Ms. Okine told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that regional cooperation and sharing best practices could also help address Streetism.
The Gender Director added that teaching students peaceful conflict resolution skills, emotional regulation, empathy, and active listening was cardinal to foster communal spirit, one that would end the practice.
Ms Okine added, “let also avoid providing alms to beggars on the streets; instead, support vulnerable individuals through structured and effective means.
By working together, we can address Streetism and promote peace, understanding, and respect in our community”, she added.
