Unauthorised Easter celebration flyer sparks confusion in Anloga-Avume

Avume (VR), April 15, GNA – Mr Kad Fluck Daniel Agboka, the Assembly Member of Avume Electoral Area, in the Anloga District of the Volta region, has issued a public notice to disregard an unauthorized “2025 Anloga-Avume Home Coming Easter celebration” flyer circulating on social media.

He said the parallel flyer, purportedly organised by the Anloga-Avume Development Youth Association, has been deemed disrespectful and an attempt to stoke confusion in the area including Avume and Anloga areas.

Mr Agboka, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said that the public is urged to disregard any flyer for Easter festivity in the area as the event has not been sanctioned by the relevant authorities and the Anloga-Avume Development Youth Association was not aware of any such activities lined up for this year’s Easter festivity.

“There is no such Easter programme in and around Anloga-Avume Electoral Area that l am aware of, and the unknown group behind the flyer has no authority to organise such an event, their actions will be made to meet with consequences,” he said.

Mr Agboka extended an apology to Togbi Zewu IV, Dufia of Anloga and other respected leaders of the area for any offense caused by the unauthorised flyer and assured the public that the matter will be reported to the Police, and those responsible would face arrest and prosecution.

He said the notice was to serve as a caution to the youths of Anloga- Avume electoral area against engaging in fraudulent activities that could tarnish the community’s reputation and emphasised the importance of upholding community values and respect to leaders,” since no organising committee of previous activities are unaware of the current activities.”

“The community’s integrity and traditions are paramount, there must be respect for order, we are not against such celebrations, but it must be channel and communicated through the appropriate authorities for better organisation to avoid unforeseen circumference for us to work together to maintain peace and order.”

He said that Anloga District Police Command and other relevant stakeholders have been notified, and action would be taken to address the situation, and assured the public that those responsible for the unauthorised flyer and the programme would be made to face the law.

Mr Agboka said that the notice was also to demonstrate the commitment to maintaining peace, order and discipline within the Avume Electoral Area and the public should be responsible for ensuring that community activities were conducted in a manner that respects the values and traditions of the various communities.

He said the unauthorised and purported Home Coming Easter festival activities were said to commenced on Saturday, April 19, with clean-up exercise between 0500 to 0900 hours with a floating from Tegbi Ashiata to Avume at 1600 hours.

He said other activities on the flyer include games such as playing of cards at Akukorkope and street jams at Chicago street, Avume on Sunday, April 20 with community talk on Monday, April 21, at Akukorkope, and urged the public to disregard such uninformed and unauthorised Easter activities to maintain peace and order in the area.

He appealed to the community to remain calm, vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities to maintain peace and order as well as ensure a safe and prosperous environment for all.

All efforts made by the GNA to get to the organisers of the said ‘2025 Anloga-Avume Home coming Easter festival’ has proven futile.
