Accra, April 23, GNA- The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has stated that it would pursue justice for slain investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale at the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Community Court of Justice.

Addressing a news conference at the Ghana International Press Centre in Accra on Wednesday, Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, GJA President, expressed dissatisfaction with the progress of the case in Ghana, despite the arrest and trial of one suspect.

“Although one suspect has been arrested and is currently facing trial, many issues surrounding the case are still not clear to us.

“So far, our efforts to get clarity on those issues from the Police have not been successful,” he said.

Mr. Dwumfour highlighted significant national and international public interest in the case and urged the Police to provide periodic updates to keep the public informed.

“We wish to emphasise that our position to seek external intervention in this case has not changed. We will only shift from our position when we are totally convinced that justice is at hand,” he said.

Mr. Dwumfour noted that similar measures are being contemplated for Latif Iddrisu, a journalist who endured assaults by the police.

He revealed that international partners, including the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ) and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), were prepared to assist in securing justice for Ahmed Hussein-Suale through other international avenues.

Hussein-Suale, a key member of Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ Tiger Eye PI investigative team, was shot and killed in January 2019.
