Tema, April 16, GNA - Some residents of Ashaiman have called on the public to celebrate this year’s Easter festivities solemnly instead of overindulging in merrymaking and reckless celebrations.

In a random survey conducted by the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the residents highlighted the importance of togetherness, safety, and spiritual reflection during the festive period.

They noted that as the period was observed by Christians to remember the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made on the cross and its benefit to mankind, it was important to focus on the importance of the period.

Miss Mavis Asante, a trader, said Easter celebrations went beyond the physical celebrations, adding that it was not just about eating and wearing new clothes, but rather a season of spiritual reflection.

“We go to church and reflect on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and that is what it holds for us as Christians,” she further said.

She called on Ghanaians to use the season as an opportunity to embrace peace, unity, and reconciliation.

Miss Rose Agbaja, a trader, said Easter reminded Christians of sacrifice and love and the need to extend that same love to one another while forgiving and promoting unity in the communities.

She expressed her excitement about the upcoming celebration and noted that she had already stocked up on essential food items to ensure a smooth and joyous celebration with her family.

“Easter is a time for family and thanksgiving. I’m making sure everything is ready so we can celebrate in peace,” she said.

Miss Gifty Tei Nortey, a seamstress, said there was a boost in their business during the season, as many people tended to sew new outfits for church services and family gatherings.

She explained that this was the time people wanted to look their best and affirmed that she had been busy sewing dresses for clients who wanted to make the occasion special.
