Police confirm death of three loggers at Breme

Breme, (Ahafo), March 20, GNA – A clash between two timber operating gangs ended bloody at Breme, a forest fringe community near Bechem in the Tano South Municipality of the Ahafo Region.

The police have confirmed the death of three of them who were shot during the clash between the two gangs from Bechem and Pokukrom-Aherewamu in the Ashanti regions, which happened around 1400 hours Wednesday March 19, 2025.

Chief Superintendent Joseph Oppong, the Tano South Divisional Police Commander, who confirmed the death told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the bodies of the deceased had since been deposited at the at Duayaw-Nkwanta St John of God Hospital mortuary.

The deceased were only known as CK Abass alias ‘Keden,’ Junior alias ‘Y Pee’ and the other one yet to be identified.

Chief Superintendent Oppong said the police had forwarded the case to the Ahafo Regional Police command saying investigations were on-going.

The GNA gathered that the clash erupted following a misunderstanding between the two gangs over a reserved forest in the area, however, calm had since returned to the Breme community after police re-enforcement.
