Accra, March 19, GNA – The Technical Working Groups of the Adwumawura and the National Apprenticeship Programme have been inaugurated with a charge on the members to work diligently to submit their reports within two weeks.
Mr George Opare Addo, the Minister Youth Development and Empowerment, who inaugurated the committees said the submission of the reports would pave way for the launch of the two flagship initiatives of the government.
The Adwumawura and the National Apprenticeship Programme are expected to be launched on April 23, 2025, and April 30, 2025, respectively.
Mr Opare Addo in an address said: “Today marks a momentous occasion as we kickstart initiatives that embody the vision of His Excellency, President Mahama, for the development of our youth.
“Our young citizens are brimming with potentials – innovation, entrepreneurship, and ambition. It is our duty to create an environment that nurtures these qualities and offers the support they require to transform into the pillars of our society.”
He said: “As champions for our youth and catalysts for change, I charge you, to embrace your roles and collaborate towards realizing this vision.”
The Minister encouraged partners to align their resources and efforts with the mission of the Ministry and the government.

“Together, we can enhance education and employment opportunities, alleviate poverty, and foster a more inclusive society,” he stated.
Mr Opare Addo said a Secretariat would be established at the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment to facilitate, oversee the coordination, and evaluation of both programmes.
The Adwumawura Programme will be implemented by the National Entrepreneurship and Innovations Programme (NEIP).
It was aimed to empower 10,000 young Ghanaians between the ages of 18 and 35 to launch and grow their businesses, effectively addressing the rising unemployment rates among the youth.
The Minister said through this programme, “we are committed to providing the necessary support – in terms of training, financing, skills development, and preferential opportunities – for young entrepreneurs to realize their business dreams.”
The National Apprenticeship Programme is designed to cultivate self-employment through free technical, and vocational training for the youth.
Successful apprentices will receive certificate, start-up capital, and equipment necessary to establish their businesses.
