Ketu North MP hosts quarterly accountability series and press briefing

Ehi (V/R), Mar. 18, GNA – The Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Mr. Eric Edem Agbana, has held his first ‘Quarterly Accountability Series’ and Press Briefing to provide an update on his first-quarter achievements since assuming office.  

The event, held in the late hours of Monday, March 17, in Ehi, is part of the MP’s commitment to delivering quarterly reports on his work, as promised during his campaign.  

Mr  Agbana used the platform to reflect on his journey as MP, update constituents on his campaign promises, and outline Ketu North’s share of development in the 2025 National Budget.   

Mr Agbana emphasised his efforts in improving healthcare access by assisting several constituents who were unable to pay their medical bills.  

His intervention ensured that patients in four major hospitals—St. Anthony Hospital, Dzadokpo Hospital, Weta Municipal Hospital, and Ghana Mission Hospital—were able to receive treatment and be discharged.  

Additionally, he secured funding to cover medical expenses for women who gave birth at St. Anthony Catholic Hospital, ensuring they received the necessary postnatal care.  

The MP announced plans to acquire a borehole drilling machine to address water shortages in Ketu North, particularly in Tadzewu and other parts the constituency its surrounding communities.  

Regarding agriculture and irrigation, he revealed that the Weta Irrigation Scheme Rehabilitation Project will soon commence under a World Bank-funded initiative.  

He assured constituents that in the coming days, machines will be deployed to begin dredging activities to enhance water supply for farming.  

To support local farmers, Mr. Agbana has procured 300 bags of fertilizer, 2,000 cutlasses to be shared to the farmers in the constituency.  

In addition, 55,000 households will receive training and start-up support for poultry farming under the “Nkuko Nkiti Nkiti” programme. This initiative aims to promote sustainable poultry farming as a means of economic empowerment for residents.   

The Edem Agbana Scholarship Program has successfully enrolled over 350 students, with a total investment of GHC 1.3 million to support their education.  

The initiative received an additional boost of GHC 100,000 from H.E. Gabriel Kwamegah Tanko Atokple, further expanding opportunities for students in Ketu North.  

To support Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) candidates, the MP has procured mathematical sets and scientific calculators, which will be distributed to students in four senior high schools.   

Acknowledging the frequent power outages in Ketu North, Mr. Agbana assured residents that work is ongoing to resolve the erratic power supply.  

He also announced an electricity extension project to connect areas where poles are available, but no power supply has been installed.   

Mr. Agbana reiterated his commitment to driving sustainable development in Ketu North, ensuring that healthcare, education, agriculture, and infrastructure needs are met.  

“I remain dedicated to delivering real change and improving the lives of my constituents. We will continue working to address key challenges and move Ketu North forward,” he stated. 

The briefing saw an overwhelming turnout, with thousands of constituents in attendance.  

The event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including Assembly Members from various electoral areas, Unit Committee Members, NDC Constituency Executives, The three shortlisted candidates for the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) position, Prominent individuals and opinion leaders, Members of the media 

During the interactive session, constituents were given the opportunity to ask questions, seek clarifications, and make recommendations on the MP’s work and the overall development of Ketu North.   

Many attendees commended Mr. Agbana for his efforts so far, particularly in the areas of healthcare, education, agriculture, and infrastructure development.  

Several residents encouraged him to push for even greater progress, ensuring that Ketu North gets its fair share of national development.   

Community leaders and youth groups took turns to express their concerns and aspirations, urging the MP to:  

Facilitate more job creation initiatives for young people, continue lobbying for improved road networks and electricity extensions, Push for additional investments in education and skills training 

In response, Mr. Agbana reaffirmed his commitment to working with all stakeholders to advance the constituency’s development agenda.  

He assured residents that their concerns have been noted and that he will continue to advocate for policies and projects that will enhance the quality of life in Ketu North.  

The massive participation in the event underscored the strong interest and engagement of the people in governance and their eagerness to see real transformation in their communities. 

The Quarterly Accountability Series is expected to continue throughout his tenure, allowing residents to stay informed and actively engage in the progress of their constituency.
