Commit yourselves to learning- FOSCO Principal charges students

By Samuel Ackon

Assin Fosu (C/R), Mar 19, GNA – Dr Anthony Baabereyir, Principal of Fosu College of Education (FOSCO), has urged students to dedicate themselves to learning and strive for excellence in their academic pursuits.

He gave the advice during the matriculation ceremony where 464 freshers were admitted into the College.

The Principal reminded them that their admission was a testament of their hard work, determination and resilience and should take pride in their achievement.

As they prepared for the noble profession of teaching, he urged them to set their boundaries and embrace the discipline that went along with their academic pursuits as that held the key to shaping their minds and future.

He urged them to take their studies seriously because success does not come by chance, but required hard work, perseverance and a disciplined approach to their academic work.

Dr Baabereyir further encouraged the freshers to feel free to approach lecturers as they were available to guide and support them, but the ultimate success depended on their commitment and dedication.

The Principal then admonished them to take advantage of the conducive learning environment, engage in academic discussions, make use of all resources and develop the habit of continuous learning.

On challenges confronting the school, he mentioned an uncompleted female hostel, started more than a decade ago, resulting in accommodation issues for female students and the yet to be completed large auditorium started 12 years ago, limiting the ability to host large academic and social events.

In addition, the College, he indicated was in dire need of infrastructure such as libraries, lecture halls, modern teaching aids and well-equipped science and ICT laboratories to improve the quality of education.

He therefore appealed to all stakeholders, the government, alumni, corporate sector and philanthropists to partner FOSCO in resolving the challenges.
