U-20 AFCON Draw: Ghana’s Black Satellites to face hosts Ivory Coast

Accra, Feb. 14, GNA – Ghana’s men’s U-20 national team, the Black Satellites, will be in Group A of this year’s CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which starts from April 26 to May 18, 2025.

Ghana have been paired with hosts Ivory Coast, Tanzania, and DR Congo, and these four nations would be joined by a representative from UNIFFAC 2.

Ghana U-20 coach Desmond Ofei would be hoping to make an impressive outing at the tournament as they seek qualification to the 2025 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Chile.

The participating teams at this year’s tournament include Egypt and Morocco from North Africa, holders Senegal and Sierra Leone from WAFU A.

Nigeria, Ghana, and host Côte d’Ivoire from WAFU B; Tanzania and Kenya from CECAFA; South Africa and Zambia from COSAFA; and DR Congo from Central Africa.

The top two teams from each group would qualify for the knockout stages, along with the two best third-placed teams.

The knockout stages would consist of the quarterfinals, semifinals, third-place match, and final.

The tournament will see 13 teams compete, with the top four nations qualifying for the 2025 FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
