GRA Royal Ladies retain Africa Cup for Club Championship trophy

Accra, Feb. 8, GNA- The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Royal Ladies, the Women’s Hockey Team has retained their tittle in the Africa Cup for Club Championship (ACCC) held in Ismaila, Egypt.

The championship decider saw the Ghanaian side take on Egypt’s Smouha Hockey Club with a three first-half goals sealed the victory, ensuring GRA Ladies retained their continental crown.

Royal Ladies’ Vivian Narkuor won the best player and the top scorer award with 13 goals, whereas Matilda Addison was the best goalkeeper for the tournament.

 Their final group game saw them overcome Nigeria’s Delta Queens with a solid 3-1 victory, booking their place in the final.

GRA Ladies kicked start the tournament with a commanding 4-1 victory over Nigeria’s Kada Queens.

 In their second group game, they faced host nation Sharkia Sporting Club of Egypt and secured a 5-1 win.

They continued their winning ways with a resounding 15-0 thrashing of Uganda’s Kampala Hockey Club in their third match.

In an interview with the media, Head Coach of GRA Ladies Ida Marmon – Halm expressed her joy, “we are excited to have won all five matches, and this achievement is a result of the team’s hard work and the unwavering support from management.”
