Ada, Feb. 04, GNA – Some residents of Ada East District have called on President John Dramani Mahama to nominate Ms. Dela Catherine Dzivenu, a former National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary aspirant, as the District Chief Executive for the area.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), they described Ms. Dzivenu as a competent, accountable, and positive person who could lead the district as Chief Executive.
According to them, she has provided the district with many projects even without any governmental appointments.
Mr. Samuel Tetteh, a resident of Otrokpeh, a coastal community, said she stood out among other contenders, stating that personally, his family benefitted from some of the interventions of the DCE hopeful, such as health screening and donations of school items.
Mr. Joshua Atigloe, a resident of Kasseh, stated that Ms. Dzivenu single-handedly distributed writing desks for some schools in the Kasseh zone.
He added that she also aided in the training of many youth to acquire skill training in the district and adopted and furnished a ward at the Kasseh clinic, among others.
According to him, the DCE candidate sometimes engages in patching portions of their roads that have become deathtraps in the district to facilitate easy movement of residents and visitors.
“I am a witness to all these and many more. If she is doing all these from her own coffers, it means she can help develop the district when nominated and given the nod,” he added.
Ms. Abigail Otumfuor, a trader, said during the Akosombo and Kpong Dams spillage, the candidate intervened by donating foodstuffs and other amenities to them, a gesture she described as exemplary.
Ms. Erica Osifodoe, a student, disclosed that “Madam Dzivenu donated school uniforms and writing materials to us on the island when I was in primary school. Even when writing the B.E.C.E., she fed us and gave us mathematical sets for the exams. I’ll go for her.”
Some other residents who spoke with the GNA reiterated the works of Ms. Dzivenu, expressing optimism that, if nominated and confirmed, she would put the assembly revenue to good use and account for it to the benefit of the district.
