24-year-old young man in police detention for allegedly murdering his biological mother

Dwenem, (Bono), Feb. 19, GNA – Drobo Police in the Jaman South District of the Bono region have detained a 24-year-old unemployed man for allegedly murdering her biological mother.

Popularly known as Kwaku Abednego, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) gathered that the suspect butchered his mother Maame Akua believed to be in her 40s at a farm and fled the town.

However, the irate youth of the town mobilised a search party and apprehended the suspect at his hideout at Baanaafo, a farming community between Dwenem and Drobo, the Municipal capital and handed him over to the police.

Mr Hagan Antwi, the Assemblyman for the Dwenem Electoral Area who confirmed the incident in an interview with the GNA at Dwenem said it happened on Monday February 17, 2024, around 1300 hours. He said the deceased left behind eight children.

A source at the Drobo police station told the GNA that the body had since been deposited at a morgue, saying, the police were still investigating, and would soon arraign the suspect in court.
