Keta Central residents laud Assembly member for remarkable leadership

Anloga, (V/R), Jan. 21, GNA – Residents of Keta Central in the Volta Region have expressed their appreciation for the exceptional administrative efforts of their Assembly member, Mr Gabriel Dzikunu, and his Unit committee over the past year.

They commended the team’s focus on addressing critical issues such as security, health and sanitation, education, and revenue generation, while calling for continued progress in the coming years.

These remarks were made during a town hall meeting, where Mr Dzikunu presented a detailed account of the committee’s work and financial performance.

He reported that the community generated a total income of GHS 20,520 between January 1st, 2024, and 31st December 2024, with expenditures amounting to GHS 16,463.

“The surplus of GHS 4,057 is currently saved in the community’s bank account,” he said.

Mr Dzikunu in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), attributed their success to the collective efforts of community members, traditional leaders, and advisors, saying “Our achievements are the result of the unwavering support and guidance we receive from the people and our leaders”.

Community members praised the leadership for spearheading initiatives such as community cleanup exercises, renovating three public toilets to improve sanitation, and fixing streetlights to enhance security.

Mr Dzikunu told GNA of how he collaborated with the Youth Association leadership to organise the maiden “Keta Easter Homecoming” in April 2024 and how they hosted the “Tsadidi Art Festival” and Children Hogbetsotso Durbar in November among other initiatives.

Mr Nutefe Attipoe, a community leader, applauded the Assembly member and asked him to prioritise issues of health and sanitation more calling for the establishment of a first Aid centre in the market to handle emergency issues of market women and checking sales of unauthorized and unprescribed drugs in the market.

The meeting, chaired by Togbi James-Ocloo, the Dufia of Keta, was attended by over 300 residents, including men, women, and youth. It was with the presence of the five-unit committee members, youth leaders, and other community representatives.

Residents called on the leadership to maintain the momentum and sustain efforts toward the development of Keta Central.
