(Zhongshan, China) – Yang Liuyi, a first-class fine artist in China and president of Beijing City Landscape Painting Research Association, was appointed the honorary dean of Zhongshan Calligraphy and Painting Academy on January 5.
Yang, who has visited Zhongshan many times and held art exhibitions there, said he deeply felt that Zhongshan is a city attaching great importance to cultural development. In the future, the artist said, he would work with artists in Zhongshan to create works about the beautiful city, making each painting a vivid narrator of the city’s stories.
At the appointment ceremony, Yang presented his “Landscape and Family”, a traditional Chinese ink painting work, to Zhongshan Calligraphy and Painting Academy.
It is learnt that Yang is a pathfinder in Chinese city landscape painting. He was the first to put forward the theoretical system of city landscape painting, and has been granted related intellectual property rights.
Yang’s works “A Painting of Song Poetry”, “Athens •Acropolis” and “Low-profile Mountains on a Par with the Sky” were once carried by Shenzhou VI and VII and Tiangong-1 into space.
Yang has been appointed an advisor or guest professor by many Chinese universities and institutes, and has published over 20 painting albums and more than 50 volumes of work collections.
