Sonrise Christian School to establish library at children’s ward of Ho Municipal hospital

Ho (V/R), Dec. 20, GNA – Sonrise Christian International School has announced its plans to establish a library at the children’s ward of the Ho Municipal Hospital.

The initiative is intended to provide reading materials for children on admission, helping to keep their minds engaged and active during their hospital stay.

Mr Mawuko Dzamesi, the School Administrator, shared this vision during a donation exercise by the school to the hospital’s children’s ward.

The items donated included detergents, toiletries, gift bags, drinks, pens, pencils, and storybooks.

Mr Dzamesi explained that the storybooks were meant to serve as a foundation for the intended library.

“We brought some storybooks as a seed towards having a library here at the children’s ward, so that if a child is unfortunately admitted, they can still find engaging reading materials,” he said.

Mr Dzamesi emphasised that giving back to society was a core value of Sonrise Christian School which was founded in 1990 by the late Pastor Samuel Dzamesi, who championed the idea of community impact.

“Sonrise has a culture of making a positive impact on our community. We are not just focused on academics within our four walls; we are committed to teaching our students about giving and helping the vulnerable,” he stated.

He highlighted the importance of teaching students the value of generosity through practical actions.

“We constantly preach to our students about giving, and initiatives like this allow them to see these lessons in action. We hope they grow into conscientious members of society who will prioritize helping those in need,” Mr Dzamesi added.

With the festive season approaching, Mr Dzamesi expressed concern for children who, due to illness, were unable to enjoy the usual holiday activities.

He said while many kids were preparing for vacation and enjoying festivities, some were unfortunately admitted to the hospital.

Madam Hadijatu Maudey, the Officer in charge of the children’s ward, expressed her gratitude to Sonrise Christian School for their thoughtful donation.

“This is the first time we have received a donation from a school. Though we often receive support from organisations and groups, having a school step forward is truly unique and heartwarming,” she said.

She encouraged other schools to follow Sonrise’s example, noting that many children on admission are students themselves.

As part of the donation event, the students had the opportunity to interact with children on admission, playing and engaging with them to lift their spirits.

The gesture did not only brighten the day of the hospitalised children but also left a lasting impression on the students, reinforcing the values of compassion and generosity.

Sonrise Christian International School’s commitment to community service continues to shine as they blend academic excellence with practical lessons in social responsibility, creating a positive impact in the lives of many.
