Wenchi (BR), Dec. 20, GNA-The Osagyefo Ampem Foundation, a charitable organisation in the Bono Region, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Trans Sahara Industries to provide electric bicycles to some public sector workers and vulnerable people in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region.
Trans Sahara Industries is a Ghanaian-owned electric micro mobility company that promotes clean and renewable energy.
Under the five-year agreement, Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoampong Tabrako III, the Paramount Chief of the Wenchi Traditional Area and Founder of the foundation, 500 electric bicycles would be supplied to needy students and nurses working in deprived communities as well as some vulnerable farmers who walked distances to their farms in the municipality.
In an interview with the media at Wenchi to climax the 2024 celebration of Annual Yam Festival of the chiefs and people of the area, Osagyefo Tabrako III explained that the foundation worked to promote and improve the wellbeing of vulnerable people in the municipality and beyond.
He said already the company had presented the first batch of bicycles to the foundation to support the “Wheels of change project”, being implemented by the foundation in the municipality.
The project aimed at providing electric bicycles to school children who walked distances to school every day.
On the just ended General Election, Osagyefo Tabrako III also congratulated Mr Alhaji Seidu Haruna, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Wenchi constituency for his re-election and called on him to support the project, pledging his commitment to cooperate with the MP to bring the development of the constituency to the next level.
He also entreated the people to bury their political affiliations, and rally behind the MP towards tackling the development shortfall and addressing the pressing needs of the people.
