Asunafo South Education Directorate honours 14 teachers, retired educationist

Kukuom, (AR), Dec. 20, GNA – The Asunafo South District Directorate of Education in the Ahafo Region has honoured 14 retired educationists and teachers, acknowledging their contributions towards the growth and development of education in the area.  

The directorate presented citations of honour to the laureates and feted them at its annual celebration of a night of a festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, held at Kukuom, the District capital.  

The celebration on the theme “For unto us a Child is Born.”  

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the side-lines of the celebration, Ms. Faustina Naana Forson, the Asunafo South District Director of Education, highlighted the relevance of quality education, and underlined the need to motivate teachers to redouble their efforts for improved education.  

“We also organise a special mass send-off party for the retirees in a way of celebrating and appreciating their invaluable contributions to the growth and development of education in the district,” she stated.

Ms. Forson enumerated several pressing challenges, including residential accommodation for teachers as well as transportation confronting the directorate and slowing down education growth in the area, and called on the government to tackle those challenges.
