Bassa, (BE/R) Oct. 15, GNA- Nana Owusu Sekyi III, the President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs has advised the Election 2024 Presidential Candidates to endeavour to remain decorous in the electioneering and avoid the use of abusive language.

He said the use of insults by the Candidates would consequently stir their followers to do the same, inflame passions, and cause tensions that could trigger political violence, and plunged the nation into chaos.

Nana Sekyi III, also the Paramount Chief of the Bassa Traditional Area and President of the Bono East House of Chiefs gave the advice when the Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) paid a courtesy on the Bassa Traditional Council at Bassa in the Sene East District of the Bono East Region.

The Vice President is embarking on a three-day campaign visit to explain the Election 2024 political party manifesto of the NPP and canvas the votes of the electorates.

Nana Sekyi III indicated that the followers of the various Presidential Candidates had high influences on their followers, saying it was therefore imperative and appropriate for the Candidates to be guarded about their comments and statements.

He reminded them that peace remained prerequisite for socioeconomic development, saying, without peace it would be difficult for any government to rule the people, if they were voted into political power.

Nana Sekyi III therefore asked the Presidential Candidates to always concentrate on issues and highlight what they could do differently to bring the development of the nation to the next level.

“There is only one Ghana, and we must all be guarded in order not to disturb our prevailing peace and social cohesion,” he stated, and entreated the Presidential Candidates to do more and highlight the relevance of peace in the electioneering.

The visit also took the Vice President to the Atebubu Traditional Council, where Nana Kwabena Kyere III, the Adontenhene (sub-chief) and the Acting President of the Council called for improved security in the region.

He expressed concern about the growing incidents of armed robbery on the Atebubu-Kumasi and Atebubu-Kawme Danso-Kajeji highways and called on the police to beef up security on the highways.

Alhaji Dr Bawumia stressed the government readiness and commitment to strengthen national security, assuring that the government had put in place adequate security measures in ensuring peace before, during and after the General Election.

He called on the electorate in the area to vote for him when they go to polls, saying that would enable his government to continue the good works of President Nana Addo Danwka Akufo-Akufo and thereby bring the development of the nation to the next level.
