Tepa (Ash), Feb.16, GNA – Nana Adusei Atwenewaa Ampem, Paramount Chief of Tepa traditional area, has received 1,000 bags of cement to aid the ongoing construction of a College of Education in the town.
It was a gift from Tepaman Rural and Ahafo Ano Premier Rural Banks. Each of them issued a cheque for the cost of 500 bags of cement.
Nana Atwenewaa Ampem at a brief ceremony to receive the cheques at his palace at Tepa in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality of Ashanti Region, called on traditional leaders to always initiate developmental projects for the benefit of the people.
“We should not always wait on the government to implement projects, it is a collective effort as patriots to mobilize for development in communities”, he stated.
The establishment of the College of Education at Tepa was the brainchild of the chief, who had since his enstoolment focused on the training of the youth.
The project which began in November 2021 is situated on a 30-acre land in the outskirts of Tepa town.
The chief, touching on the progress of the project said an accreditation had already been secured and the administration block completed while some four-unit classroom blocks were also about 70 per cent complete.
The school, according to him, would soon be completed for academic activities to begin.
Already some furniture and other logistics to aid teaching and learning have been procured.
Nana Atwenewaa Ampem pledged to work hard to make the College a centre of academic excellence and recounted his steadfast work in making the Tepa Senior High School and the Nursing Training College experience growth in the last few years.
He used the occasion to appeal to natives of Tepa and other benevolent individuals to support the completion of the College and other related projects currently going on in the area.
Mr Prince Kwaku Addae, Board Secretary of Tepaman Rural Bank, said the donation was part of the corporate social responsibilities of the bank, and pledged to support the chief in implementing developmental projects in the area.
He explained that the coming into being of the College of Education in the town would boost financial transactions at the bank, adding that the banks support to quality education delivery in the area was not in doubt.
