Come and invest in Aowin-Omanhene

Enchi (WNR), Feb 15, GNA – Nana Beyeeman Tano Kwaw Benbuin III, Omanhene of Aowin Traditional Area in the Western North Region, has called on local and foreign investors to invest in the Aowin Municipality to enhance the area’s development.

He said the Municipality was endowed with human and natural resources, which offered many opportunities to investors.

The Omanhene, who was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), pointed out that the area was bestowed with gold, timber, rubber plantation and cocoa, among other natural resources.

He recounted a situation where a Cocoa shed in Tema was named after Enchi, the capital of the Aowin Municipality, signifying the immense contribution to cocoa production in the country’s economy.

He said despite its resourcefulness in timber and cocoa production, there was no factory in the area to process the raw materials into semi-finished or finished products.

According to him, many of the cocoa and timber farmers have lost interest in farming as a result of the post-harvest losses, compelling many of them to travel as far as Kumasi in the Ashanti Region and other neighbouring towns to purchase wood for construction works.

Contrary to the assertions that Enchi was a hard-to-reach and abandoned area, Nana Beyeeman Tano Kwaw Benbui III, described the town as not a typical “God-forsaken” town but a town with a peaceful environment, peace-loving people and blessed with natural resources.

The Enchi town recently gained much popularity when the suspended Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Sekondi-Takoradi, Mr Abdul-Mumin Issah, threatened a police officer with a transfer to the town.

“In fact, contrary to this uninformed view, Enchi is not a typical “God-forsaken” town. Mr Issah might want to confer with people from different parts of the country who have been posted to Enchi to work.

“I can place it on record, without equivocation, that some people do everything to resist transfer from Enchi because of the peaceful nature of the town, its peace-loving people and how welcoming and generous they are!” he said.

The Enchi township is about 212 kilometres from Sekondi-Takoradi and forms part of the Western North Region. It has many tourists’ sites such as the Bia National Park, Bonzain Waterfalls, Krokosue Forest Reserve, Abombirim Sacred Tortoise Forest and Nyame Dua (the Tree of God), among others.
