Dodowa(GAR) Nov. 13, GNA — The Children and Teens in Worship (CTIW) Foundation has presented sports equipment to the Dodowa community as part of efforts to tap and project local talents for a successful career life.
The donation is part of efforts to commence a sporting club to scout for talents and develop them.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of the presentation, the Sports Project Coordinator for CTIW, Rev. David Holyfield observed that were a lot of talents in the Dodowa enclave.
“Most of them are facing acute financial challenges which did not allow them to realize their potential. That is why CITW thinks that there was the need for a Community Sports Development program which would take these boys from the streets and help them develop their talents,” Rev. Holyfield said.
He said, currently in Dodowa, there were a lot of intelligent young people who had no support to continue their education or any training and which put them at high risk of becoming a burden on the nation hence the need for the programme to get them engaged.
The Cleric hinted that they would also include in their agenda a mechanism to help the needy access education.
Rev. Holyfield informed that when such talents were developed in the community, the young ones would grow to become responsible citizens and would come back to help the community.
He observed that Ghana government was doing her bid to help the youth, but the burden on government was huge, “That is why individuals and organizations must come in to help raise the youth for a better tomorrow.”
Items donated included bags of football jerseys, football boots, and other training equipment. The programme is due to commence early next year.
