GlobalNet Procurement Joins the UN Global Compact

Accra, Jan. 16, GNA – GlobalNet Procurement Limited, a leading player in the global supply chain and procurement sector, has made its bold commitment to sustainability by joining the United Nations Global Compact.

This marks a significant milestone in the company’s journey towards the integration of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) into its operations.

By joining the UN Global Compact, which is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, GlobalNet Procurement, also a network partner of Storm Procurement Limited, affirms its

commitment to sustainable business practices as well as supports global efforts towards addressing critical environmental, social, and governance (ESG) challenges.

As the first procurement company in Ghana to join the Country Network Ghana, the onboarding ceremony was a pivotal moment for the organization.

In the remark of the Executive Director of the UN Global Compact Network Ghana, Mr. Tolu Kweku Lacroix indicated that ‘a part of the works of the Global Compact is to help companies align with regulations especially in the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) space’.GlobalNet Procurement Limited through its membership will have access to tools and resources that will enable the organization to significantly accelerate its global impact.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Mina Pokuaa Agyemang, Participant Engagement Manager of the UN Global Compact Network Ghana, explained how the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact aligns with global ESG ratings.

Additionally, she highlighted the seven (7) focus areas businesses are engaged on to drive global impact.

She called on all stakeholders of GlobalNet to connect, learn, lead and communicate to make measurable progress in their sustainability journey.

As GlobalNet Procurement Limited embarks on this transformative journey, the Managing Director, Mr. Kwame Kwakye encouraged all business entities who are not yet part of the UN Global Compact to also join, so that we can build a sustainable global economy together.’

Furthermore, he attested that, ‘the UN Global Compact has toolkits and platforms such as the Academy with several useful resources that organizations can take advantage of to improve their operations.

Mr. Kwakye stressed that ‘everyone should sign up to join the Global Compact because the ESG imperative is something businesses cannot get away with.’
