FOSA north America provides STEM tools, drums, and others

Fijai (WR) Jan. 9, GNA – The North America branch of Fijai Old Students Association (FOSA) have provided their alma Mater with laptops, drums, and 86-inch smart boards to spur up more laurels in the National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) programme.

The group has also renovated a learning centre and provided 24-hour Internet connectivity.

The act was spearheaded by NSMQ Foundation, Fijai SHS Chapter, a nonprofit organization based in the USA, a Foundation committed to supporting the current generation of students with requisite equipment to enhance the teaching and learning of Science and Mathematics.

Mr. Samuel Opoku, President of the NMSQ Foundation, Fijai SHS Chapter, North America said the 86-inch smart board was more than just a piece of technology.

Mr. Opoku, who is also the Financial Secretary of FOSA, North America Group said “It is a gateway—a window to the world. With this tool, the students will not only learn but engage, collaborate, and innovate on a global scale.”

The Investment is a testament to the NSMQ Foundation’s commitment to empowering the students with the tools they need to compete and excel in this fast-changing world.

The Foundation drives all initiatives related to the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) competition for Fijai SHS.

The 86-Inch Smart Board had since been fixed at a state-of-the-art learning center, christened Dr. J.Y. Andoh Learning Center in the school also funded by Foundation.

The President said the presentation was in fulfilment of a shared vision to see Fijai SHS thrived as a beacon of academic excellence, innovation, and growth.

He explained that the smart board would play a critical role in enabling the students to simulate real-time problem-solving and fine-tune their strategies.

“Our NSMQ team will become a force to reckon and prepared to take part in the competition and together, we are building champions—not just for today, but for generations to come,” he added.

He mentioned another initiative by the Foundation as the “Lawrencia Harrison Scholarship’ which supports many deserving students.

He called on the board of Directors, members, and the executives of the Foundation to continue to rally behind the initiatives, to support the students, and to uphold the legacy of Fijai SHS as a school that transformed lives.

The occasion was also used to launch the 2025 Raffle Tickets for All-Expenses-Paid Trip to Virginia, proudly sponsored by the FOSA North America Group.

While the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for FOSA, North America Group, Mr Osei-Sarpong Kumankuma and his family also donated a four in one quads/quint Drum Set to the Fijai SHS Cadet Corp in memory of their departed mother.

He noted that the NMSQ Foundation, Fijai chapter wanted Fijai SHS to become a solid science school to produce more doctors and engineers and not necessarily win NMSQ trophies adding “But if Fijai wins, hallelujah.”

The Headmaster of Fijai SHS, Mr Kenneth Agbomadzi, expressed gratitude to the Foundation for their various initiatives and indicated that the smart board would help the school undertake lots of research and make teaching and learning even better.
