Voting kick-starts peacefully in Central Tongu

Adidome (V/R), Dec. 07, GNA – The presidential and parliamentary elections kicked off smoothly at 0700 hours in the Central Tongu district of the Volta Region.  

At the Adidome Primary A and B polling centre, approximately 100 voters had already formed a queue by 0500 hours eagerly awaiting the arrival of Electoral Commission (EC) officials to commence the voting process. 

According to Mr. Willis Faith, the Presiding Officer at the polling centre, all necessary equipment, including verification machines, are in good working condition to ensure a successful election.  

He said that 418 voters are expected to exercise their franchise and assured that every eligible voter would be given the opportunity. 

The Ghana News Agency observed a visible security presence at the polling center, to support in maintaining peace and order.  

Various political party agents were available to observe and report on the elections. 

Mr. Godwin Casola Ayikpa of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Alexander Hotordze of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Madam Avudoahor Lawrencia Esenam of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Mr. Akafua-Hotor Courage of the National Democratic Party (NDP), and Mr. Dzramado Selorm Dramani, an independent candidate were those contesting the parliamentary seat.
