Tema, Nov. 06, GNA — The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), in collaboration with the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), is to introduce digital commerce laboratories in Ghana to equip small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with tools to access international markets.

Mr Emmanuel Doni Kwame, Secretary-General of the ICC, said the initiative would build the capacity of businesses to use digital platforms and other tools to expand their operations and reach customers beyond Ghana.

Mr Kwame indicated that the programme would be implemented in collaboration with the GEA, which has a presence across the country, to ensure that the initiative reaches businesses beyond Accra.

He said the digital commerce laboratories were part of efforts to strengthen SME participation in international trade, including opportunities that could arise from Ghana’s proposed partnership with the BRICS grouping.

Speaking at a media engagement powered by the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), he said the ICC had also been promoting an initiative linked to BRICS to improve trade integration among SMEs, using tools developed by the organisation to support businesses in accessing global markets.

One such tool, he said, was the ICC’s ‘One Click’ initiative, which was designed to help SMEs participate in international trade.

He added that the broader trade cooperation being discussed among BRICS economies could also create opportunities for businesses to access equipment and technology needed to establish and expand production.

Mr Kwame said the digital commerce laboratories would provide opportunities for entrepreneurs to develop practical digital skills and use technology to improve their businesses.

He announced that the Ghana launch was scheduled for November 10, 2026, at the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), University of Ghana, Legon.

He said the ICC was working with the GEA to identify SMEs that could benefit from the programme.

The initiative, he said, was expected to help businesses use digital tools to improve their access to markets and grow their operations.
