Bongo (U/E), Nov. 03, GNA – The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the full implementation of outstanding conditions of service for nurses and midwives across the country.

Mrs Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo, President of the GRNMA, said the Association was engaging relevant stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health and management of health facilities, to ensure that all outstanding entitlements captured under the collective agreement were implemented.

Speaking at a mini durbar of members of the Association in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region, Mrs Ofori-Ampofo said although some allowances had been implemented following the Association’s industrial action last year, others remained outstanding.

She identified the book and research allowance, rural allowance and on-call allowance as benefits that still required attention.

“Following from what happened last year, we have seen the uniform allowance implemented. We have seen the fuel allowance implemented. We have seen the PIN and AIN renewal implemented,” she told members.

Mrs Ofori-Ampofo said the process for the payment of the book and research allowance for nurse educators was nearing completion and had reached the finance approval stage.

She added that discussions were ongoing with the appropriate authorities to ensure the implementation of rural and on-call allowances for eligible members.

The GRNMA President explained that industrial action was not the Association’s preferred option for resolving labour-related concerns and expressed confidence that dialogue would yield positive outcomes.

“It is not as if we just get up and say we are going on strike. Not at all,” the GRNMA President stated.

Mrs Ofori-Ampofo, however, warned that the Association would not hesitate to resort to industrial action if dialogue failed to produce meaningful results.

“We expect that dialogue should allow us to have every item that we are able to sign off in our collective agreements to be implemented by the employer,” she added.

She encouraged members to take advantage of the Association’s professional development initiatives, including free webinars and online educational platforms, to earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points required for the renewal of their Professional Identification Numbers (PIN) and Additional Identification Numbers (AIN).

Mrs Ofori-Ampofo also disclosed that the Association was strengthening its communication channels to improve members’ access to important documents, application forms and information relating to their employment conditions.

She reaffirmed that the Association’s activities were guided by its 2026-2030 strategic plan, which prioritises effective governance, professional development, members’ welfare, advocacy, membership growth and strategic partnerships.

According to her, the GRNMA remained committed to protecting the welfare and advancing the professional interests of nurses and midwives throughout the country.

Mrs Ofori-Ampofo was accompanied by members of the National Executive Committee, including Mr Samuel Alagora Akolgo, First Vice President; Mr Daniel Atta Tuffour, Second Vice President; and Mr Anthony Sopaal, Assistant General Secretary.

Others were Mr Joseph Wilimor Krampah, Public Relations Officer; Mr Philimon Gyapong, Deputy Public Relations Officer; Mr Moses Robertson Anyigna, National Treasurer; and Mr Thomas Lambon, Assistant National Treasurer.
