Accra, Nov 5, GNA – GCB Bank Plc, Ghana’s largest bank, has unveiled the GCB Opemsuo Royal Golf Invitational, a new premium golf tournament that blends elite sport, Asante royal heritage and Ghanaian excellence, scheduled for Saturday, November 28, 2026, at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi.

The launch, held at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi, also featured the unveiling of the Opemsuo Kente Jacket, a distinctive championship garment that will be awarded to the tournament’s overall winner. The jacket is expected to become the defining symbol of achievement and prestige associated with the Invitational.

Created to establish a unique place on Ghana’s golfing calendar, the GCB Opemsuo Royal Golf Invitational provides an exclusive platform for business leaders, high-net-worth individuals, distinguished personalities and golf enthusiasts to connect through sport, culture and premium hospitality.

According to the organisers, the tournament draws inspiration from the rich heritage of Asanteman. The name Opemsuo reflects its royal roots, while the Royal identity underscores the prestige, exclusivity and distinction at the heart of the event.

Ms Cynthia Eyram Ofori-Dwumfuo, Chief Marketing, Communications and Customer Experience Officer of GCB Bank, said the Invitational provided a strategic platform for the Bank to engage business leaders, professionals and high-net-worth individuals, while deepening relationships with existing and prospective Private Banking customers.

Professor Bernard Kofi Baiden, the Head of Operations at the Royal Golf Club said the Invitational was being developed as a premium golfing experience that combined strong competition, tradition and hospitality, while introducing a distinctive new event to Ghana’s golfing calendar.

He added “we want to create a tournament that golfers look forward to every year. The Opemsuo Kente Jacket is central to that vision, giving the champion something truly special to compete for and helping to establish a lasting symbol of excellence in Ghanaian golf.”

The Royal Tee-Off is scheduled for 07h00 at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi. The wider event experience would include a welcome cocktail reception, an awards ceremony and the Amber Networking session bringing together GCB leadership, invited guests and distinguished personalities.
