Aflao (V/R), Nov. 6, GNA – Mr Bright Kwashie Ege, an aspirant for the position of National Democratic Congress (NDC) Volta Regional Secretary, has launched his campaign in the Ketu South Constituency, outlining plans to improve the welfare and dignity of party executives and strengthen the party’s administrative and financial structures.

Addressing party members and supporters at the launch, Mr Ege, who hails from Ketu South, appealed to delegates across the region to support his candidature and give him the opportunity to lead the party’s regional administration.

He said his vision for the position placed the welfare of current and former constituency executives and party cadres at the centre of his priorities.

Under his proposed Executive Welfare and Dignity agenda, he pledged to institute life insurance policies for current and former constituency executives and party cadres to provide them with greater security and recognition for their service to the party.

He also proposed making the party more financially independent through the establishment of commercial ventures, including farming and transport businesses, at the constituency level to generate sustainable internal revenue.

On infrastructure, Mr Ege said he would spearhead the construction of permanent and well-resourced constituency offices across all 18 constituencies to strengthen party administration.

He further promised to establish structured systems to connect party youth and faithful to employment and empowerment opportunities.

As part of efforts to recognise the contributions of former party officials, he proposed reforms to grant recognised delegate status to all former executives, saying the move would help preserve institutional memory.

Mr Ege also pledged to pursue a binding performance contract with the party’s eventual presidential candidate to ensure the delivery of development commitments to the Volta Region.

On administration, he proposed the introduction of digital archiving systems, stricter discipline, improved operational standards and a merit-based awards system to promote efficiency and accountability.

Mr Marshall Akumey, a former NDC Ketu South Constituency Chairman, endorsed Mr Ege’s candidature and appealed to branch executives to encourage party leaders to support his bid.

He described Mr Ege as a son of the constituency and said his background in the southern part of the region, coupled with his experience as Deputy Regional Secretary, made him a suitable candidate for the position.

Mr Akumey also urged constituency executives who attended the campaign launch to carry the message to their respective areas and encourage delegates to vote for Mr Ege.

Mr Ege previously served as Deputy Regional Secretary under Mr James Gunu, who later became the Volta Regional Minister.

Following Mr Gunu’s departure from the position, Mr Ege acted as Regional Secretary until his current bid to secure the substantive position.

The NDC Volta Regional elections are scheduled for Saturday, November 14, 2026, at the Ho Technical University.
