Jinijini, (Bono), Nov. 4, GNA – Nana Baffour Tutu Asare II, the Chief of Jinijini in the Berekum West District of the Bono Region says Ghanaians would remain unhappy, if the government failed to complete the abandoned ‘Agenda 111 District Hospital’ projects, spread across the length and breadth of the country.
He noted that the former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration funded those projects with taxpayers’ money.
Describing those projects as a laudable health intervention initiative, Nana Asare II appealed to President Mahama to facilitate resumption of work and completion of those projects in the supreme interest of the nation.
He called on the government to capture those abandoned hospital projects under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ‘legacy projects’ execution and complete them for use.
Nana Asare II raised the concern in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after he visited the Jinijini Agenda 111 district hospital project site in the Berekum West District.
Nana Asare II reminded President John Dramani Mahama that completing those hospital projects would pave the way for the majority of Ghanaians in the rural communities to derive the optimum benefit from the government’s Free Primary Healthcare programme.
He lauded the instrumental role played by the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Berekum West Constituency, Mr Kwaku Agyenim-Boateng, popularly known as “Agogo” towards the siting the hospital project at Jinijini, the district capital.
“We recognized and remain grateful to Agogo for the influential role he played during the NPP administration over the siting of the project at Jinijini”, Nana Asare II recollected.
The chief expressed the hope that the present MP for the Area, Mr Dickson Kyere Duah would also utilize his influence in ensuring that the government completed that particular Agenda 111 district hospital project.
Nana Asare indicated that the Berekum West District and the Berekum East Municipality lacked government hospitals, saying that the abandoned Agenda 111 district hospital project in the area remained their only hope for now.

Meanwhile, work on the project had been abandoned for years now and left under the mercy of the weather, with weeds taken over it, the GNA noticed.
In all about 25 uncompleted structures were sighted on the 15.1-acre land area, designated for the project execution.
In another interview, Nana Hinneh Adawia, the Twafohene (sub-chief) of Jinijini said the hospital project was not only dear to the heart of the people, but a pressing need of the community.
He noted that the Jinijini Township and its adjoining communities had witnessed rapid population growth, hence the need for the government to complete the project for the people to easily access healthcare.
Nana Adawia, popularly known in the area as ‘latest’ said the Jinijini community released the land for the project to the government free of charge, and prayed the government would be more sensitive to the health needs of the people and complete the project.
