2027 Budget Statement must fund on-going gov’t socio-economic intervention programmes-Jinijini Chief

Jinijini, (Bono), Nov. 5, GNA-A traditional ruler has commended the government for its socio-economic interventions programmes, saying that the country will be prosperous if the 2027 Budget Statement and Economic Policy capture and funded implementation of those programmes.

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister of Finance, is expected to present the 2027 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Thursday, November 12, 2026.

Nana Baffour Tutu Asare II, the Chief of Jinijini in the Berekum West District, made the commendation when he spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview on his expectation from the budget at Jinijini in the Bono Region.

Specifically, he mentioned the implementation of the government’s “Big Push” Road Infrastructure programme, saying that successful execution of the programme would propel Ghana into a prosperous nation.

He justified that the re-construction and expansion of the Jinijini-Sampa Road project under the “Big Push” had opened the area and thereby boosted economic activities and business growth.

Nana Asare II commended the government for asphalting the Jinijini portion of the road project and commended the Rango Construction Limited, the contractors executing the project.

He praised the government for the 24-Hour Market projects too and appreciated the level of work done on the Jinijini 24-Hour Market project.

Nana Asare II expressed the hope that the project would be completed to create more job opportunities for the youth in the area and thereby boost economic growth.

Nonetheless, Nana Asare II expressed concern about the condition of the abandoned “Agenda 111” district hospital project in the area, initiated by the former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration.

He indicated that politics was meant purposely to advance development and expressed the hope that the 2027 budget would make funds available for resumption of construction work and completion of those hospital projects, spread across the country.

Describing the Agenda 111 district hospital projects as a laudable health intervention programme, Nana Asare II appealed to President John Dramani Mahama not to allow those projects to go waste because Ghanaians needed them.

He called on the government to also consider establishing a Nursing Training College in the Berekum West District.

Nana Asare II said he was hopeful that the government would listen to the people and complete the Agenda 111 District hospital project in the area.

“Then we will have a nursing training college which will also produce graduates to work at the district hospital,” he stated.

Nana Asare concluded that until successive governments went beyond partisanship and continued with development projects initiated by their predecessors, the development of the nation would continue to remain back and forth.
