Wenchi (Bono), Oct. 2, GNA – Mr Simon Kusugbor Gameli, Wenchi Municipal Officer of the Veterinary Services Department (VSD) in the Bono Region, has expressed concern about the increasing number of rabies cases in the municipality.
He said the VSD recorded 97 rabies cases from January to September this year, with one death.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Gameli said the situation was becoming worrying and called for collaboration among stakeholders to bring it under control.
He advised dog, cat and other pet owners to vaccinate their animals, saying vaccination was essential to reducing rabies cases to the barest minimum.
Mr Gameli also urged dog owners to keep their animals under control to prevent dog bites, particularly among children.
