Aflao (V/R), Oct. 23, GNA – Voting in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ketu South Constituency executive elections started about one and a half hours behind schedule on Friday, with the first delegate casting a ballot at 0930 hours instead of the scheduled 0800 hours.
Mr Bright Kwashie Ege, Acting Volta Regional Secretary of the party, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the delay resulted from changes to the planned polling arrangements.
He said the election committee initially intended to establish three polling stations but later decided to increase the number to four to speed up voting and prevent the exercise from extending late into the night.
A total of 74 aspirants are contesting various executive positions in the constituency.
The GNA observed that voting proceeded smoothly after the first ballot was cast, with officials of the Electoral Commission coordinating the process.
Police and National Security operatives were also present to maintain security and ensure a peaceful election.
