Kumasi, Oct. 24, GNA – The University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (USTED) has hosted the final conference of the European Union-funded DigiMarkt Project, aimed at integrating digital marketing into Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Ghana.
The conference brought together representatives of the European Union, partner institutions, project trainees, and students to review the project’s achievements and discuss measures to sustain its gains.
The Ghanaian partners included the USTED, Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) and Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU), while the German partners were Steinbeis Beratungszentrum (SBZ) and Int@E.
Held under the theme; “Transforming the Digital Future of TVET in Ghana: The Role of the DigiMarkt Project,” the conference assessed the project’s impact on TVET, celebrated achievements and reaffirmed stakeholders’ commitment to sustaining digital transformation in the sector.
The €394,185.00 project was funded by the European Union.
Prof. Frederick Kwaku Sarfo, the Vice-Chancellor of the USTED, in a welcome address, expressed satisfaction with the project’s achievements, saying it had equipped teachers and trainers with modern digital skills and enhanced the employability of TVET learners.
He said the initiative had also established digital marketing laboratories in partner institutions and strengthened the capacity of TVET providers to respond to the demands of the digital era.
Prof. Sarfo thanked the European Union and the project partners for their collaboration and commitment to advancing digital transformation in Ghana’s TVET sector.
Prof. Yarhands Dissou Arthur, the National Coordinator of the project in Ghana and Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Mathematics Education (FASME) at USTED, urged partner institutions to prioritise the sustainability of the project beyond its funding period.
“Sustainability must remain at the centre of our collective responsibility,” he stressed.
He commended the partners for their commitment to the project and expressed gratitude to the European Union for funding the initiative, which facilitated the training of more than 60 Ghanaians in Slovakia and Germany to promote knowledge transfer and sharing.
Prof. Arthur described the establishment of modern digital marketing laboratories at USTED, CCTU and BTU as a major achievement and urged the beneficiary institutions to ensure their proper maintenance to benefit more people.
Dr. Jonathan Barth, European Union Representative and Project Coordinator from Germany, urged the partner institutions to regard the project not as an end but as a foundation for further innovation and collaboration.
“Turn training into experimentation and experiments into partnerships,” he encouraged.
