Tema, Oct. 22, GNA – A delegation from the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has visited the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) to learn from Ghana’s crude oil refining experience as Uganda advances plans to establish its own refinery.
The delegation, accompanied by officials of the Petroleum Commission (PC), visited TOR on Wednesday October 21, as part of an information exchange programme in Ghana.
Mr Edmond Kombat, Managing Director of TOR, and Alhaji Mustapha Batalima Abubakar, Deputy Managing Director, welcomed the team and shared insights into the refinery’s operations and business.
During the visit, TOR’s technical team briefed the delegation on the refining process, explaining how crude oil is processed into finished petroleum products.
The session also provided the visiting delegation with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the technical stages involved in refining, particularly the processing of locally sourced crude oil.
Mr Arthur Musinguci, Head of the delegation, said the visit would enhance the team’s understanding of refinery operations as Uganda progresses with its refinery development plans.
He said the delegation was keen to learn from TOR’s operational experience to broaden its knowledge of the refining industry and draw lessons relevant to Uganda’s emerging petroleum sector.
