The Hague, Oct 5. (dpa/GNA) – The International Criminal Court on Monday said, it issued arrest warrants for two more senior Taliban figures over crimes against humanity, committed through the systematic stripping of rights from women and girls in Afghanistan.
Education Minister, Habibullah Agha, and Higher Education Minister Neda Mohammad Nadim, join Taliban leader Haibatullah Akhundzada and Chief Justice Abdul Hakim Haqqani in facing the charges, the court in The Hague said.
The warrants against the two ministers, issued in September 2025, had not previously been made public. The court said since the Taliban retook power on August 15, 2021, women and girls had been persecuted based on their gender and denied fundamental rights and freedoms.
The warrants against Taliban leader Akhundzada and chief justice Haqqani, had already been announced by the court in July of last year.
According to the judges, the Taliban are pursuing a policy that leads to serious violations of the fundamental rights and freedoms of the civilian population, including murder, detention, torture and rape. Women and girls in particular are being denied the right to education, privacy and family life, as well as freedom of movement, expression and religion.
