Dormaa-Ahenkro (Bono), Oct. 12, GNA – Teachers in public schools in the Dormaa Central Municipality of the Bono Region have returned to the classroom following the suspension of the nationwide strike by teacher unions.
A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to some schools in the municipality on Monday showed that teaching and learning had resumed, with academic work progressing steadily in most basic schools.
Mr Emmanuel Appiah, Headmaster of Presbyterian ‘A’ Basic School at Dormaa-Ahenkro, told the GNA that about 95 per cent of learners had reported to school.
He said only a few pupils were absent and that all 17 teachers in the school had resumed duty.
Mr Elvis Ameyaw, Headmaster of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Primary School at Dormaa-Ahenkro, said all teachers and about 350 learners had reported to school.
He noted that teaching and learning were progressing smoothly and urged teachers to intensify their efforts to recover instructional time lost during the strike.
Some teachers who spoke to the GNA reaffirmed their commitment to making up for the lost academic period and improving the performance of pupils and students.
They expressed optimism that the resumption of classes would help restore normal academic activities and ensure that learners remained on course with the academic calendar.
