Senya (C/R), Oct 01, GNA – Mrs Diana Hopeson, former President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), has urged students to take their education seriously while preparing themselves holistically for the opportunities and responsibilities that lied ahead.Â
She encouraged them to embrace continuous personal development, and remain mentally, academically and spiritually prepared for opportunities that may come their way.
Mrs Hopeson, a gospel music icon, made the call at an engagement with students of Tema International School as part of her nationwide Senior High School tour, with incredible messages and spirit-filled songs particularly on her new album titled “Megyae.”
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Senya, following a successful engagement with the students, Mrs Hopeson said she had over the years combined her music career with advocacy, mentorship and initiatives focusing on inspiring young people and promoting positive values in society.
She introduced to the students her latest studio album, telling them to let go of every unworthy habit that contradicted the good teachings of the Gospel while embracing the full blessings and guidance of the Holy Spirit in its purest form.
Mrs Hopeson stated that the engagement provided the students the opportunity to reflect on the importance of continuous growth, discipline, preparedness and personal development as they prepared for greater responsibilities beyond school.
At the heart of her message, she stated that there was the need for young ones to experience growth in four key areas: wisdom, stature, favour with God and favour with men.
Mrs Hopeson encouraged students to pursue growth in wisdom by developing knowledge, understanding and sound judgment, stressing that, academic education must go beyond simply passing examinations.
Growth in wisdom, she said, also involved consciously using school time to develop intellectual capacity and discipline required to navigate life and respond effectively when opportunities arose.

The gospel music icon challenged them to seek growth in favour with God, placing emphasis on spiritual development, moral values, and a strong moral foundation, and to recognise that personal success must be accompanied by character, purpose and a sense of responsibility.
She also linked growing in favour with men to importance of relationships, service, respect, leadership and ability to positively impact others and urged the students to develop qualities that would enable them work effectively with people and also become responsible members of society.
“Becoming prepared for future responsibilities require young people to grow not only in what they know, but also in who they are and how they conduct themselves,” she said.
Her message was also largely centred on Tema International School’s four essential mandates, academic, service, culture and sports which she encouraged the students to embrace as important components of their overall development.
Mrs Hopeson stressed that academic excellence must be complemented by service to others, participation in culture and the development of sporting abilities adding these areas provided students with opportunities to discover their strength, develop discipline, build relationships and become well-rounded individuals.
