Koforidua, Oct. 12, GNA – Mrs Mary Abena Agyepong, Project Administrator of the Nkabom Collaborative at the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Somanya, has urged the project team to prioritise interventions that deliver tangible improvements in the lives of vulnerable groups.
She said the team must ensure that the project’s interventions translated into sustainable opportunities and improved livelihoods, particularly for young people, women, displaced persons and persons with disabilities, as it implemented its third-year strategic plan.
Mrs Agyepong made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency following a three-day retreat organised by the Nkabom Collaborative to evaluate its second-year performance and plan for the third year of implementation.
The 10-year project seeks to promote sustainable development in Somanya, Yilo Krobo, and surrounding communities, with the potential to serve as a model for similar interventions across the country.
Mrs Agyepong said the partnership with the Mastercard Foundation required the team to align its activities with the goal of enabling young Africans, particularly the vulnerable to access dignified and fulfilling work through education, innovation, skills development and industry collaboration.
She urged members to uphold the foundation’s values of humility, listening, kindness, respect, co-creation and impact in their engagements and project implementation.
The Nkabom Collaborative brings together McGill University in Canada, UESD, the University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ashesi University, Koforidua Technical University and the Association of Ghana Industries.
Mrs Agyepong also called on the team to document its achievements and report on the changes its interventions were making in the lives of beneficiaries.
She said timely reporting and the documentation of impact stories would help demonstrate the project’s contribution to community development and highlight the benefits of collaboration.
She expressed confidence in the team’s ability to sustain the project’s vision and deliver meaningful results in the next phase of implementation.
