Accra, Oct. 5, GNA – The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has congratulated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the successful election of its new national executives.
The NPP, on Saturday, October 3, elected national officers at its National Delegates Conference held in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, to lead the party for the next four years.
Mr John Boadu, a former General Secretary of the party, was elected National Chairman, while Mr Justin Frimpong Kodua retained his position as General Secretary.
The other executives elected were Mr Kojo Fosu Boadu, Mr Henry Nana Boakye and Nana Akomea as National Vice Chairpersons; Mr Alfred Kojo Thompson as National Treasurer; and Mr Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover as National Organiser.
Mr Abanga Yakubu Fuseini was elected National Youth Organiser, Ms Mavis Hawa Koomson, National Women’s Organiser, Mr Mohammed Ali Suraj National Nasara Organiser, while Mr Dennis Edward Miracles Aboagye was acclaimed Communications Director.
The NDC, in a statement signed and issued by Mr Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the General Secretary, extended the party’s goodwill to the newly elected executives and expressed the hope that their tenure would contribute to strengthening democratic governance and political cooperation in the country.
It said the interests of Ghana must remain paramount in the engagements between the two major political parties, urging political actors to place the national interest above partisan considerations.
Such an approach, the statement said, would help advance the shared national objective of building a stronger and more prosperous Ghana.
“It is the fervent hope of the NDC that under the tenure of this new crop of executives, there will be mutual effort to ensure that the interest of Ghana always surpasses the narrow interest of the two respective parties,” it said.
The statement expressed the NDC’s commitment to promoting peaceful political engagement, democratic values and the collective responsibility of political actors to safeguard and deepen Ghana’s democratic gains.
