Bolgatanga, Oct. 1, GNA – Mr Roland Atanga Ayoo, the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) has assured management and staff of the Upper East Regional Hospital of his commitment to support the facility to improve healthcare delivery in the municipality.
He said the Regional Hospital served the people of Bolgatanga more than any other health facility and, therefore, deserved the attention and support of the Municipal Assembly.
The MCE, who made the remarks during a meeting with management and staff of the hospital, said he was particularly interested in the facility because he was not only the MCE but also a native of the area.
“I am also a native of this land. I am not just only the Municipal Chief Executive. I am also a citizen of this land on which the hospital is operating. I am very much interested in this hospital,” he said.
Mr Ayoo commended health workers for their sacrifices and tireless efforts to save lives, stressing that their work was critical to the wellbeing of the population.
“I just wish to use this opportunity to thank you for your tireless efforts and sacrifices you make in trying to protect lives. In this world, whether you like it or not, when there is no life in you, you are nobody,” he said.
The MCE acknowledged the challenges associated with working in the health sector but assured the hospital of his willingness to assist in creating an enabling environment for staff to deliver effectively.
“I can only encourage you now and assure you that even though this is a regional hospital and more or less a teaching hospital, I am more than willing to assist you in your work,” Mr Ayoo said.
He noted that motivated health workers were more likely to provide quality services saying, “When a health worker is motivated or works with some level of satisfaction, we can be sure or guarantee that our people’s lives are in safe hands.”
Mr Ayoo further urged staff, particularly those who were not natives of Bolgatanga, to make a meaningful impact during their stay in the municipality.
“The value of a man is not measured by your height, your fitness, your size, or by the number of footprints that you leave behind. It is the value of what you leave behind,” he noted.
The MCE, therefore, encouraged the staff to leave a positive legacy through their work and contribution to healthcare delivery in the municipality.
“All that I am inviting you to do is that, once you are in Bolgatanga, do your best to leave footprints behind,” he added.
Dr Joseph Kojo Tambil, the Medical Director of the hospital, commended the resilience and commitment of staff to delivering quality healthcare services despite challenges, and expressed appreciation to the MCE for his willingness to support the facility.
