Kumasi, Oct. 14, GNA – Mr Eric Asibey, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwadaso, has inspected ongoing reshaping works on the Tanoso-Topre road to assess the progress of the project and ensure its effective execution.
The inspection formed part of efforts by the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly to monitor road improvement interventions and ensure that communities had access to motorable roads to support economic and social activities.
The works are being undertaken by the Municipal Urban Roads Department with equipment provided under the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP).
The Tanoso-Topre road serves as a vital access route for residents, farmers, schoolchildren and traders who depend on it for their daily activities, including the transportation of agricultural produce to market centres and travel to neighbouring communities.
However, the road had deteriorated considerably due to erosion and prolonged exposure to adverse weather conditions, making movement difficult for motorists and other road users, especially during the rainy season.
The poor state of the road had also affected accessibility and increased the challenges associated with transporting goods and accessing essential services.
The ongoing reshaping works are expected to improve the condition of the road, facilitate movement and provide a safer and more convenient route for commuters and commercial vehicle operators.
Residents and motorists in the area have expressed appreciation to Mr Asibey and the Municipal Assembly for the intervention, indicating that the project would improve accessibility, reduce travel time, enhance road safety and minimise vehicle maintenance costs.
They noted that improved road access would also boost farming and trading activities by making it easier to transport agricultural produce and other goods to market centres.
The intervention is expected to bring relief to road users who have endured difficulties navigating the route, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.
