Accra, Oct. 14, GNA – The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) is investigating the cause of a fire outbreak at its Mallam Substation in Accra, which disrupted power supply to parts of the city.
A statement issued by GRIDCo said the incident occurred at 0236 hours on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, following a fault that triggered a fire on one of the transformers at the substation.
The statement said the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded promptly to the incident and successfully contained and extinguished the fire.
GRIDCo said electricity supply had been restored to some of the affected areas, while efforts were underway to restore power to the remaining areas as quickly as possible.
The company said it had initiated processes to replace the affected transformer to facilitate the full restoration of power supply.
GRIDCo apologised for the inconvenience caused by the incident and expressed appreciation to affected customers and stakeholders for their patience and understanding.
