Accra, Oct. 25, GNA – The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has been named Public Relations Organisation of the Year 2025 in the Public Sector Category at the Institute of Public Relations, Ghana (IPR Ghana) Excellence Awards.

The award was presented at the 2026 National Public Relations Summit held from October 22 to 24 in Koforidua.

The three-day summit brought together public relations practitioners and other stakeholders for conferences, paper presentations, the Institute’s Annual General Meeting and the Excellence Awards.

The awards recognise outstanding contributions to the public relations profession and promote professional standards in strategic communication.

The GRA in a statement said the recognition reflected its commitment to professional public relations and effective communication in the discharge of its mandate.

It said as a corporate member of IPR Ghana, the Authority uses strategic communication to strengthen relationships with taxpayers, the media, stakeholders and the general public.

The statement said several staff members of the GRA’s Communication and Public Affairs (CPA) Department were also active members of the professional body.

The Authority said the award highlighted its investment in building the capacity of communication professionals to improve public education and promote voluntary tax compliance.

It said effective communication was important in managing stakeholder relationships and improving public understanding of its policies, programmes and operations.

Mrs Florence Asante, Deputy Commissioner of Communication and Public Affairs (CPA) at the GRA, said public relations was more than publicity and served as a strategic management function.

She said effective public relations helped build trust, strengthen stakeholder relationships and support organisational objectives.

Mrs Asante said the recognition reinforced the need to invest in communication professionals and ensure their expertise contributed meaningfully to management decision-making.

She said the CPA Department used public education, media relations and stakeholder engagement to promote tax awareness and encourage compliance.

The department also worked to strengthen public confidence in the Authority by helping taxpayers understand their obligations and the role of tax revenue in national development.

The GRA said the award underscored the importance of continuous professional development and modern public relations practices in public institutions, adding that effective communication should promote understanding, constructive engagement and public confidence.
