Berekum (Bono), Oct. 13, GNA – Mr Joseph Yeboah, the Public Relations Officer at the Berekum Municipal Directorate of Education, has described teachers and students’ attendance in the various basic schools as impressive.

This followed the teacher unions’ suspension of their two-week nationwide strike.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Berekum, Mr Yeboah said a monitoring exercise conducted in the various schools in the municipality, showed that almost all the teachers and learners had reported for school.

He said the directorate was informed that a few students who had been absent had travelled, saying that effective teaching and learning were progressing in all the basic schools.

Mr Yeboah commended the teachers and asked them to redouble their efforts to help the students catch up with the lost academic lessons during the two-week strike.

“We are also putting in place measures to recover the lost periods and hours for the learners to complete their syllabus,” he stated.

Mr Yeboah called on families to encourage their children and wards to report to school on time to enable the teachers to catch up with the lost lesson hours.
