Lewuniyiri (S/R), Oct 23, GNA – Some women groups amongst other stakeholders at Lewuniyiri have undergone training in financial literacy, teamwork, communication, problem-solving and vocational skills.
It was to strengthen enterprise management and promote sustainable livelihoods in the Lewuniyiri community in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region.
It was organised under the Promoting Rural Opportunities for the Vulnerable and Excluded (PROVE) for Sustainable Development Project, which is aimed at equipping beneficiaries with practical skills to manage their finances, improve group collaboration, expand business opportunities and build long-term economic resilience.
A total of 61 participants comprising mainly women cooperative members of the four vocational skills production groups established under the PROVE project (soap, shea, dairy, and related value-added products) were the beneficiaries.
Other beneficiaries included youth, persons with disabilities, members of the Fulbe community, livestock beneficiaries, community tricycle operators, and members of the Project Management Committee in the community.
The training was facilitated in collaboration with the Ghana Enterprise Agency and formed part of efforts to sustain livelihood interventions established under the project.
Through practical demonstrations, picture cards, role-plays, group exercises and real-life business examples, participants acquired knowledge and skills in budgeting, savings, record-keeping, pricing, and business decision-making.
The sessions also addressed communication, teamwork, and problem-solving with discussions focusing on separating business income from household finances, maintaining simple financial records, and resolving conflicts constructively.
Participants were also encouraged to strengthen collaboration within their production groups and manage shared resources effectively to improve the sustainability of their businesses.
The PROVE for Sustainable Development Project is being implemented by CSD Reform, the lead implementing partner, under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Governance, Rule of Law and Peacebuilding for Sustainable Development Flagship Programme.
The project receives funding support from the governments of Denmark, Luxembourg and South Korea.
