Asemko (W/R), Oct. 13, GNA – Mr Paul Kodwo Kwaw, the Assembly Member for Kikam/Asemko Electoral Area, and the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) have donated furniture to the Asemko District Assembly (DA) Basic School, now KIMTECH Model, in the Ellembelle District.

The donation was because of the furniture deficit which had affected over 200 school children, and it comprised 50 dual desks from the PTA and five round tables from the Assembly Member.

Mr Kwaw said as enrolment soared, the School Management Committee and the PTA convened an emergency meeting, where it was resolved to procure furniture for the school.

He said the last time the PTA provided 300 dual desks to the school was about four years ago and commended the Association for its continued support for the development of the facility.

As an Assembly member, he also provided five round tables which could accommodate not less than six kindergarten pupils per table, bringing the total to 30 pupils.

Mr Kwaw expressed concern that pupils were sitting in groups of four while children at the kindergarten block sat on mats to learn.

He commended the District Assembly for putting up a six-unit classroom block and ancillary facilities for the school but appealed to them to augment furniture in the school, urging corporate bodies such as the Ghana National Gas Company and Eni to come to their aid.

Mr Daniel Hackman, the Headteacher of the Asemko DA Basic School, thanked the Assembly Member and the PTA for the support.
