Accra, Oct. 28, GNA – Former Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has donated an undisclosed amount to Ghana’s national amputee football team, the Black Challenge, as they intensify preparations for the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.

Ayew visited the team’s training session and offered words of encouragement, urging the players to remain focused on achieving success on the global stage.

“I’m here to support and give you all the love and power that I can give you, and to wish you great luck. I hope that you guys will bring us a medal, but the gold will be better,” Ayew told the players.

The gesture is expected to boost morale within the team as they gear up for the tournament, scheduled for November 13-22, 2026, in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico.

Ghana have been drawn in Group D alongside Angola, Colombia and Iraq in the 24-nation competition.

Ayew’s support also highlights growing efforts to promote inclusivity and greater recognition for athletes with disabilities, while drawing attention to the need for sustained investment in para-sports.

The Black Challenge would be aiming to make a strong impression at the World Cup and continue raising Ghana’s profile in amputee football on the international stage.
