Kumasi, Oct. 4, GNA – Alhaji Ali Suraj, a former presidential staffer and campaign coordinator for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the Asawase Constituency, has been elected National Nasara Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He polled 372 votes to defeat his closest contender, Alhaji Saalim Mansur Bamba, who secured 311 votes, while Alhaji Awal Mohammed obtained 106 votes.
The election was held during the NPP National Delegates Conference at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
The Nasara wing of the NPP is the Party’s structure responsible for mobilising support and recruiting members, particularly within Zongo and Muslim communities, as well as promoting its policies and programmes.
Following his declaration by the Electoral Commission (EC), Alhaji Suraj appealed to members of the Party to embrace unity and forgiveness and put the internal contest behind them.
He said with the elections over, it was time for the leadership and members to unite, re-strategise and work collectively towards reclaiming power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 general election.
Alhaji Suraj said his doors would remain open to members to express their grievances and offer constructive criticism to enable the Party to identify its weaknesses, make the necessary corrections and move forward.
He expressed gratitude to the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and commended them for their exemplary conduct throughout the electoral process.
Alhaji Suraj pledged to provide vibrant and inclusive leadership to the Nasara fraternity and contribute to broader efforts to strengthen the NPP ahead of the 2028 elections.
He also commended the Ghana News Agency (GNA) for what he described as its consistent and accurate reportage and urged the Agency to maintain its high journalistic standards.
